Planting indoors...layering your living canvas!

Playing in dirt...can be fun,  relaxing and rewarding regardless the space.

A yard, a window box, a pot, a hanging basket, a wall...can be a joyful vessel to create a special platform for a garden. Defining that special spot is up to you. There are many ideas on how to utilize that chosen or available space. Using what we already have is great. Introducing options to widen the space enabling more green coverage is cool. Expanding in layers has got to be one of the best options to me in/for any place, especially a limited area-indoor or outdoor.

By layers...I mean planting various species important to YOU the grower and keeping in mind that a garden is about textures, heights, fragrance, seasons, harvest, maintenance, colors, observation and logic. Yep logic.

If your space is that limited height wise, loving coconuts is wonderful, growing one as food source is futile. No? However they do make a statement in a shallow dish at a young stage. *I will explain later with a picture.

If you have little time devoted to the upkeep of a garden, limiting your work from get go is best. By the way plastic plants are NOT an alternative! Helltotheno! Plant light and pick hardy species of plants to care for at first. In time, you will expand your collection. Dead plants do nothing for a space. In the contrary, their presence is-depressing.

If you love nature, don't mind playing in dirt and you live in the city--- having an indoor garden will be a cool addition to your home space. And if you already have a green thumb but wish to better utilize your designated garden area these ideas may help you!

Being creative is a gardener's best tool.

Not being afraid to venture beyond the norm is a plus too. Remembering it is your space makes trying new options to an old familiar way perfectly fine. Learning to compromise as you care for a garden, moving plants around, changing pots, reorganizing a 'layer' of the overall display to suit a particular additions celebrating each season is key! Gardening is fun. And even when we screw up ending up with a dead plant for whatever reason... the lessons are worthwhile. We learn, toss out the lifeless tenant, find a new plant and we keep on the course!

Your green space is not confined to just a potted plant or many. In gardening indoors for instance...i call 'layers' the platform you can create BESIDES the obvious or/and available
spots!

Most caring for plants in an indoor space do so in pots--- large medium and small.
I am proposing more folks expand their indoor space planting in what I call- LAYERS.

Play in dirt, stay connected!
